POLICY
Required Materials
-Guitar/Bass Guitar
Your own guitar (electric or acoustic) to bring to lessons and for home practice
Picks (not necessary for bass students), Strap (if desired)
Tuner/Metronome - both of these can be obtained as applications on any smart phone, which is the easiest way to make sure you always have access to these. They can also be purchased as individual units if desired.
Lesson Book - empty guitar or bass tablature/notation book, can be purchased at Up Tempo Music Store or via online retailers
For electric players, it’s a good idea to have an amplifier at home for practice, though will not be necessary to bring to lessons as amps are provided.
-Ukulele
Your own ukulele to bring to lessons and for home practice - Soprano, Concert, and Tenor are all good options for beginners
Tuner/Metronome - both of these can be obtained as applications on any smart phone, which is the easiest way to make sure you always have access to these. They can also be purchased as individual units if desired.
Lesson Book - empty ukulele or bass tablature/notation book (because ukulele tab books are harder to find and ukulele and bass have same number of strings therefore tablature is represented the same way), can be purchased at Up Tempo Music or via online retailers
-Piano
Piano or keyboard for home practice, not necessary to bring to lessons as piano is provided
Lesson Book - for piano, I use the Faber Piano Adventure series by Hal Leonard, we will discuss which book level to start with on an individual basis
-Additional Optional Materials for all instruments
Music Stand
Guitar/Ukulele Stand
Piano throne
Instrument Cables (if plugging into an amplifier at home)
Capo for guitar/ukulele
Guitar Pick case
Attendance
- Lesson Times
Generally, I meet with my students once per week for either a half hour or an hour lesson. This can be catered on an individual basis if you would like to take lessons more often than that.
We will have a set time slot to meet each week, do your best to be there ready a couple minutes before so we can get started right away.
- Lateness - not a big deal, life is busy, just shoot me a text message and let me know if you’re able to do so.
- Rescheduling
Generally, I don’t do prorated months if you will be absent for a lesson. If you need to miss a lesson, we will make it up at a separate time. Just reach out to me to discuss it, I have time I set aside for makeup lessons, so it is not a problem to reschedule occasionally.
I do require 24 hours cancellation notice in order to reschedule a lesson. If you cancel within less than 24 hours, we may not be able to do a makeup lesson based on schedule availability.
Payment
- Payment is made by the month, via check, cash, or credit/debit card, at the first lesson of each month. If you wish to have your card auto-debited each month, that is an option as well.
RATES
Lesson rates are as follows:
- Half hour weekly lesson
$120/month on months with 4 lessons, $150/month on months with 5 lessons
- Hour weekly lesson
$240/month on months with 4 lessons, $300/month on months with 5 lessons
